Gamla

by Touchpoint Israel

The ancient Jewish city of Gamla sits on a hilltop in the Golan Heights. Once a strong fortress for Jewish rebels resisting the Romans, now the city’s black basalt stones are strewn across the sharp ridge leaving only a hint of its courageous past. The Romans succeeded in destroying the city, although they could not crush the spirit of the Jewish fighters who chose to take their own lives rather than submit to slavery and degradation.
