Also known as the city of Bethsaida, the gate of the city of Tzer was discovered on this day in 2018. It is first mentioned in the book of Joshua as a major Aramen urban center, it is likely that King David passed through this gate seeking the hand of the daughter of the King of Geshur. Jesus also frequented the city when it was known as Bethsaida in the Second Temple period. Bethsaida was abandoned sometime in the Roman period due to a large earthquake.
