Tu B'shvat

The minor Jewish holiday celebrating the planting and blossoming of trees, Tu Bi’shvat has been observed since biblical times. According to tradition, this was the day when the rabbis would calculate the first fruits tithe. In 1890, Tu Bi’shvat was revived in pre-state Israel as a day to plant trees. It continues to be a popular holiday where millions of Israelis have taken part in planting trees each year.
