Chaim Herzog was an Israeli politician, general, lawyer, and author who served as the sixth President of Israel. Born in Belfast to Ireland’s Chief Rabbi, Herzog emigrated to Israel in 1935 where he served in the IDF until 1962, retiring with the rank of major-general. He practiced law before his political career, which included being Ambassador to the United Nations.
